Here is the same photo but showing its construction process. More an exploded view of the layers and what went into it. It reminds of the videos I see of movie effects being placed over films.

The Making of Chicken Little

The fresh snow falling, a new snowfall on Christmas day and Chicken looks hopefully up towards the Star, wishing for a warm cosy Christmas.

At first sight, the image looks like a photo was taken of the chicken at night. The above shows hows night time was created with dark sky layers. The snow and lighting and shading effects were added on top creating a scene that was only possible with compositing them all together.
