My new “How to remove paper texture video course” goes live on Linkedin.com
FFT Is a powerful way to remove textures from photos. You can find it as a plugin for Photoshop or as part of other image enhancement software.
The “Removing paper Texture Course” is a great way to explore the free options to remove textures and repeat patterns from a paper’s surface without damaging the original.
“Many vintage photos were printed on textured, “silk-finish” photographic paper. If you’re restoring an old photo, you’ll want to remove this texture to get the cleanest, sharpest results.
In this course, master retoucher Neil Rhodes shows a variety of techniques for removing paper texture. From scanning the photo in multiple angles to using a sophisticated Photoshop plugin called FFT to process photos on Windows.”

Excerpt from the course
“Hi, I’m Neil Rhodes and welcome to Photo Restoration Techniques: Removing Paper Texture. In this course, we’ll be learning some simple but effective techniques in photo restoration where we will be removing paper texture using Adobe Photoshop. These techniques will help prepare a textured photo-ready for restoration. First, we’ll take a look at getting started with the right kind of photograph processing. Then we’ll use two or more scans of our image to try the first texture removal technique using aligned layers. Next for our second texture removal technique we will install and use an FFT, Fast Fourier Transform Filter for Windows PC. I’m very excited to share these techniques with you and help remove paper textures. Let’s get started.”
