Want to learn the photo restoration craft? My new in-depth course should help you.
The course “Photo restoration course fixing stained colour and damage” is now live. Some of the transcript and introduction are below so you can get a feel for what is involved.
“Old color photos are often not only faded, but also have stains, cracks, and other damage. Restoring such images involves refining your photo-recoloring skills. In this course, master restorationist Neil Rhodes shows how to use Photoshop to fix the overall damage, fading, and color staining. He begins by showing how to assess an image and map out a restoration strategy. Next, he explains how to fix the overall tonality and repair the damage. To wrap up, he demonstrates how to recolor an image and add the final touches.”
Topics include:
Planning the restoration
manual Colour Adjustments
Building density on the faded image
Fixing most of the damage
Selecting colour and preparing colour layers
Final Cleanup
The course starts like this
“Hi I’m Neil Rhodes and welcome to Photo Restoration techniques: Fixing Stained Colour and Damage. Old photos can be damaged in many ways. Colour damage always seems the most tricky to fix. in the course I’ll show you how to break down the restoration into manageable tasks to make this difficult colour restore that much easier. First, we’ll take a look at getting started by examining the colour damaged photo and the types of damage we’ll need to restore. Next, we’ll move onto some initial tone and colour corrections to pave the way for the main restoration.
We’ll move on to restore all the damage and colour the photo where needed. To close we’ll perform our final touches and cleanups to finish the restore.”
