I am calling this week, photomontage week., where I will post one montage a day for 6 days. All of these were entries into photoshop competitions.
The first is a spider.

Spider montage
Created from a rock, a spider, somebody’s leg, a fly and sunset was added at the end. The spider was altered to hold the thread which was also added. The perspective is from the spiders nook looking outwards. Great effects can be made from silhouettes, simple but effective use of low camera angles and scales can bring together the most surprising of elements. Have a go yourself and share them here.
Note: All images for the montage were obtained from free stock photos.
Another one tomorrow…
This is the second montage in the set I call “blue window”. This was an entry into a photoshop competition.

Blue window created in photoshop
Day one was all about the effectiveness of silhouettes and today carried that theme on.
A graduated blue background with streams of blue snake-like sea strands behind a square panelled viewing window. The silhouettes were added at the end.
Stock photos of people turned into silhouettes and a “tile” filter used in photoshop to give the wall a glass-like look. The blue streams are painted coloured lines filtered with Photoshop’s stain glass filter and then warped and distorted by the glass.
Another one tomorrow…
This is the day 3 of photomontage week. This image is called “dinner”. The baby is actually looking at the tip of an acorn, not what you think!

Dinner time photo montage of an acorn and a baby
A simple montage of a baby with an acorn dodged and burned to look like baby lunch! Easy to see how you can be fooled by some clever Photoshop trickery. At first glance, it could be overlooked that it is, in fact, an acorn. Simple montage can be found all over the web to great effect. There are a lot of seemingly impossible photos on the web. Cats with butterflies perched on their noses, eyes almost cross-eyed trying to see the butterfly. With a couple of stock photos a cat and a butterfly, adjust the eyes of the cat and what a wonderful photo you have.
This can be seen with rainbows and skies and storm and skylines everywhere. Look in any holiday brochure, you can bet the sky has been replaced or a sunset added!
Another one tomorrow…
This is day 4 of photomontage week and this latest image is “luminous ocean” 4th out of 15 on pxleyes.com

Blue ocean created in photoshop
This image was created from an old wooden sea groin that had been worn by the sea. The two towers of rock are actually wood in this montage. The stones were also borrowed from the original image but used where I need them to complete the scene. The sea, sky, sand and clouds were all added to complete the montage.
Another one tomorrow…
This is day 5 of photomontage week.
This image is simply a water tower tied in a knot! It was an entry into a worth1000 photoshop competition but that entry I forgot to upload the version that contained the shadows (that will teach me to work late into the night!!) It only came 11 out of 18! This is the version with shadows. If you are thinking this is not a montage, think of it as a montage of the same image, bits of it used over and over to make the final image.

Another one tomorrow…
A simple montage of an overweight cow and a dragonfly who can’t believe his eyes. The dragonfly was captured using an early digital camera around a lake in Guildford Research Park. One of my own images!

Overweight cow and dragonfly
The cow is a stock photo and warped using liquify in photoshop.
I hope you liked my photoshop gallery this week and there will be more in the future.
