Using colour balance for photo restoration

Another important tool in photo restoration is colour balance. It can used for removing stains or overall colour casts on a photo. The photoshop tool allows you to correct the tones within the photo. The tones are broken in 3 groups, highlights, mid-tones and shadows. Each of these can be altered separately. This is useful when colour correcting a photo where the blacks have red tinge and the whites a yellow cast. Sliders can be used to subtly change the tone and correct the image. With experience this tool can be used to fix all manner of stains and colour anomalies.
