What to look for that may influence the cost.

How big is your photo?

Larger photos have more surface area to restore, smaller photos have less. Enlarging small photo often reveals damage and detail not seen with the naked eye.
.

Damage to vital areas.

Time taken restoring damage in critical areas of the photo will add to the cost. Flaked emulsion on landscapes is far easier to repair than when across multiple faces. Facial reconstruction is time consuming.
.

How much damage is there

The more damage a photo is the longer it will take to restore. A crisp cut with scissors is faster and cheaper to repair than years of creasing and wear and tear.
.

Damage you can't see.

Sun faded, colour or black and white photos require large amounts of image processing. This reveals, grain and damage that may require further restoration. Colours may have been lost completely and hand colouring will be needed.
