You will make many selections when performing a photo restoration and each will be different. Photoshop has a myriad of tool for selecting, from the magic wand, pencil, brush, masks, channels, magnetic lasso and many more. They allow you in some way to select part of your image. Generally you are selecting something to repair, remove or replace. Whichever you are working on once the selection has been made be sure it’s feathered correctly and the grain is matched so when the photo repair is made for the final restoration it is as realistic as possible.
